On the night of 1/24/20, I was at work with what was going to be a very busy night. My boss had just left for the evening and texted me letting me know I had to go to Pies and Pints to pick up gift certificates for a trade out. (something very typical in the hospitality world) He mentioned I had to be the one to pick them up and they already knew I was coming and to get there before 7pm. Annoyed at the fact I had to leave, I grabbed my purse and told the desk staff I would be right back. Little did I know what was really going on... When arriving at the restuarant, I told the hostess who I was and she sent me to talk to the bartender. Once at the bar, I didn't seem to notice the fact that the restuarant was completely busy, yet the bar was empty. I talked with the bartender again explaining who I was and that I was picking up gift certificates. She said she would be right back and walked away. I was still texting my boss at the time letting him know I was there picking them up and the bartender comes back up and points behind me and says, "Hey, uh they are coming around the corner." When I turned around, I saw Dalton and my instantly thought was wow, what a coincidence! Then I noticed he was holding a pizza and last but not least in the other hand was a ring box. I'll be honest it took me a pretty long second to figure out what was going on. He got down on one knee and inside the pizza box it read, "Ashlee, Will you marry me?". As camera lights were flashing, I was still confused to what was happening. Then he said, "I was wondering if you would want to spend the rest of your life with me." I was in such shock, but my response was, "well DUH!". Then I grabbed the ring box and hugged his neck so tight. The whole place exploded clapping and whistling. I still couldn't figure out where the flashing lights were coming from and then it occured to me Dalton had my best my best friend, Erin take pictures of the whole thing! (bonus points!!) Turns out, Dalton reserved the whole bar, because it was where we had our first date almost 2 years ago to the day. We sat in the same seats, ate the same pizza, and celebrated where it all began. Turns out, my whole hotel knew what was happening and no one gave any indiciation that they knew! It was the best.propsal.ever. |
